15 years on Mars: NASA lost communication with Opportunity Mars rover

On January 25, 2005, the Opportunity Mars rover landed at Eagle crater, on the Meridian plateau.

According to the Fast Company portal, Nasa employees have last communication session with the spacecraft on June 10, 2018, after a powerful dust storm covered Mars. According to scientists, this storm forming every six to eight years and covers almost entire planet’s surface. The rover, conducting research in a 22 km wide valley on the edge of the Endeavor crater, had to plunge into sleep mode, and since then NASA cannot reconnect to it.
