NABU closes case of Gontareva due to the fact the expenditures of the ex-head of the NBU on spending holidays in the Maldives were less than 250 minimum wages

The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) closed the case against former head of the National Bank Valeria Gontareva. This is stated in the relevant decision of Solomensky District Court of Kyiv.

The legal proceeding was concerned with declaring Gontareva’s expenditures on vacation in the Maldives in 2016.

After conducting an investigation, NABU detective decided to close the proceeding.

«The regulation on closing the case is motivated by the fact that Gontareva’s expenditures on spending holidays in the Maldives in July 2016 were UAH 249.9 ths that is less than 250 minimum wages for able-bodied persons and does not create the objective side of the criminal offence, stipulated by Article 366-1 (putting false information in the documents) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine», – the message said.

In addition, according to the NABU, payment for a tour is a consumer thing and cannot be regarded as an acquisition of property.

As «The Journalist» reported earlier, Gontareva spent almost UAH 400 thousand in the Indian hospital.
