Strasbourg (France) hosts the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe today, April 8. Among the main issues to be discussed are the budget crisis in the Council of Europe and new threats in the fight against organized crime. This is reported by the PACE press service.

The budget crisis in the Council of Europe arose over non-payment of contributions by Russia. In this regard, it is planned in late May to consider the issue of depriving Russia of representative rights in the organization.

In the framework of the spring session, the Commissioner for Human Rights Dunja Miyatović will make an annual report. The Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland is also expected to attend the session.

In addition, PACE will discuss new threats in the fight against organized crime and money laundering, as well as take a position on the creation of a new EU mechanism to support democracy, the rule of law and fundamental freedoms.

As The Journalist reported, PACE delegation arrived to Ukraine to observe the presidential elections.
