The aggressor state is not going to change its position regarding the possibility of releasing 24 Ukrainian POW sailors: they will remain in custody, despite the decision of the United Nations International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in favor of Ukraine. This was stated by the Russian president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Hromadske reports with reference to the Russian media.

Peskov stressed that in relation to the Ukrainians the investigation should be completed “in connection with the violation of the law on the border” with a trial that should take place after.

Recall, on May 25, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea satisfied the claim of Ukraine and ruled that Russia immediately release three Ukrainian naval ships and 24 members of their crews.
