The Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharuk while presenting a report on the work of the government in the Verkhovna Rada, has said that the gas prices for Ukrainian consumers could be three to four times higher than the current one if Ukraine had not signed new transit agreement with Russia in the end of 2019.

“The gas transit contract with Russia ended on January 1, and there was a serious risk that we would lose this transit. This could had led to a serious blow to the economy, and to a serious increase in the cost of energy resources both for enterprises and for citizens. According to the estimates of individual experts, if this contract had not been signed, the gas price could be three to four times higher for Ukrainians and for the Ukrainian economy,” the head of government said.
