The Ukrainian mission to the UN reported that current and former EU Members (Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany and Poland) made a joint statement following a discussion at the UN Security Council on MH17 flight downed over occupied Donbas in 2014.

“As the criminal investigation of the JIT continues, we recall all States, particularly the Russian Federation, of their obligations under UNSC Resolution 2166, and to cooperate fully with the international investigation,” the statement reads.

At the same time, Ukraine, as a member state of the Joint Investigative Group, calls on Russia to implement the relevant resolution of the UN Security Council and “fully cooperate with investigation.”

The Representation of Ukraine to the UN noted that five countries welcomed the start of the MH17 trial by a Dutch court and expressed their full confidence in its independence, impartiality and professionalism.

“No matter how thorny the path may be, the true essence of the tragedy will be established, and those involved, both executors and organizers, will be held accountable,” the statement said.
