The court intends to attach to the case of the downed Boeing MH17 flight over Donbas in 2014 the interview of the former DPR leader Igor Girkin with the Ukrainian journalist Dmitry Gordon, Deutsche Welle reports.
The presiding judge Hendrik Steinhaus said that in a three-hour online interview released by Gordon on May 18, Girkin admitted “indirect responsibility” for the MH17 disaster. At the same time, he insisted that the militants had not shot down the plane.
Igor Girkin was the so-called Minister of Defense of the DPR militants, and also participated in the annexation of Crimea. He is one of the defendants in the case of the downed MH17 flight in Donbas. After the plane was downed, Girkin immediately wrote in his social networks that the militants shot down the “Ukrainian plane”, but when it turned out that it was a passenger flight, he deleted these messages.
