Starship prototype exploded during landing: Musk named cause of accident

The first prototype of the Starship spacecraft for a flight to Mars, developed by SpaceX, made a successful launch, but exploded during landing.

During testing, the prototype rose to a height of 12 kilometers. But during landing a powerful explosion thundered aboard of the Starship, and the ship caught fire.

The founder of SpaceX, Elon Musk, spoke about the reason why the test launch of the Starship spacecraft prototype ended in failure. The accident was caused by the low pressure in the head oxygen tank, he said.

He added that because of this, the landing speed was too high.

Musk noted that despite the accident, SpaceX was able to collect all the necessary data.
