In Odesa Yevhenia Dembska, the people’s artist of Ukraine, holder of the Order of Princess Olga, an honorary citizen of the city died at the age of 98.
The press service of the City Hall clarified that the actress died on June 29.
“Since 1953 Yevhenia Dembska played in the Odessa Vodiany Academic Theater of Musical Comedy. She played has more than 200 roles, giving all her talent and heart to her beloved spectators, theater and students”, the report says.
According to the theater, the artist’s life and work are inextricably linked with Odessa, where she played 72 seasons at the theater.
In 1960, Dembska was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Ukraine, in 2000 – the People’s Artist of Ukraine.
In 2007, Dembska was awarded the Order of Princess Olga of III degree.
In 2013, Dembska was awarded the title of the “Honorary Citizen of the City of Odesa.”
In 2017,Dembska set two records of Ukraine, as she became a person who worked 70.5 years with the same theater group, and as the oldest working actress (96.5 years old).
