Yesterday late in the evening, on May 24, on Fontanska Doroha street in Odesa was committed another attempt to kill the head of the public organization «Nebayduzhy» 23-year-old Sergei Sternenko.
One attacker was killed in a result of the incident, the communications department of the Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in Odessa region reported.
«The police received a report on attack attempt on the activist, in a result of which he was wounded and later taken to the hospital with brain concussion and a cut wound on his hand», – the message said.
The police found one of the attackers with a deadly knife blow in the stomach. The second attacker disappeared. The police opened 3 criminal proceedings: article 122 part 1 (intentional average severity of bodily harm), article 15 part 1 and article 115 Part 1 (murder attempt, premeditated murder).
As reported by Sternenko himself, the attack occurred near his house when he was returning home with his companion. There were two males. Sternenko was able to resist, using a knife that he carried with him for self-defense..
Later, according to the information of the adviser to the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region, Ruslan Forostyak, Odessa police detained the second participant of the attack on Sternenko. According to Forostyak, law enforcers established the identity of the deceased, as well as the motives of the incident.
According to some reports, the deceased and detained, both are residents of Odessa, one of them is an active or former military man.
