According to the State Agency on Energy Efficiency, almost 22,000 households in Ukraine have installed solar panels and use ‘clean’ energy, Government portal reports.
The amount of investment in solar power plants is about EUR 450 million, and the total capacity of installed solar power plants makes up over 553 MW.
“Solar stations in households are a small distributed generation and an absolute trend in the world. The more people produce electric energy, the less influence of monopolies and abuse of opportunity. Therefore, the production of clean energy by households for their own needs is a very right direction. Accordingly, changing the conditions for this category is inappropriate,” Oleksiy Orzhel, Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection, said.
In general, Ukrainians installed the largest number of solar panels in the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (over 2,700), Ternopil – (over 2,000) and Kyiv (almost 1,800).
