The Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Dmytro Dubilet has stated that almost 4 million Ukrainians live abroad on a long term or permanent basis since 2010.
“Migration has a pronounced cyclical nature. The constant trend is up, except in 2014. Apparently, this is caused by the conflict in eastern Ukraine, as well as by the lack of accounting for migration in the occupied territories,” the minister said.
According to Dubilet, the visa-free travel did not significantly affect the final migration figures and balances.
“I explain this by the redistribution – people began to travel less to Russia (at least officially), and more to Europe … Well, we will do everything so that the economy grows faster and Ukrainians have less reason to leave the country,” the minister emphasized.
Markarova: In 3 years, Ukraine’s economy will be strong enough to be independent from IMF.
