Astronomers have discovered an exoplanet orbiting very fast a Sun-like star around 600 light-years away from Earth, and a year on it lasts for only 19.5 days. Despite this, the planet is 27 times more massive than Earth. This is reported by Science Alert.
The new planet has been named EPIC 211945201b or K2-236b. It was first spotted by Kepler space telescope, but it was a team of Indian scientists that confirmed it was a planet, not a comet or another astronomical object.
Researchers note that the identified planet is orbiting a Sun-like star. It is also more than seven times closer to its star than Earth is to the Sun, which means the temperature could be around 600 degrees Celsius.
As «The Journalist» reported earlier, scientists have discovered three planets, similar to the Earth.
