Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Ihor Petrishenko said that Belarus wants to suspend oil transit via the northern section of the Druzhba pipeline amid repair works. BelTA reported.

According to Ihor Petrishenko, the government tried to solve the problem on its own, without closing down certain sections of the pipeline, but the situation now requires a quite more radical measures.

“Now, in connection with issues related to ecology, elements of a green economy, we see that there are moments that we cannot implement and provide technical maintenance of this pipeline without certain sections, either to limit or block [transporting] oil,” said Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus.

As The Journlist reported, Belarus opens Chernobyl exclusion zone for tourists.
