Ukraine and the European Union reported in a joint statement that the illegal enrichment should be immediately re-criminalized.
“Ukraine and the EU underlined the importance of continuing fulfilling the visa liberalization benchmarks and accelerating reform efforts, in particular, in the fight against corruption, along with judicial and law enforcement institutions,” the statement noted.
The leaders of Ukraine and the EU also welcomed the appointment of the judges to the High Anti-Corruption Court and progress towards making it operational, UNIAN reports.
“We agreed on the urgent need to re-criminalize illicit enrichment and to ensure the necessary independent and efficient functioning of all anti-corruption institutions,” the document says.
