Bulgaria’s state gas operator has signed a contract with a group of companies led by Saudi Arabia to build a TurkStream gas pipeline, Assotiated Press reported.
The USD 1.2 billion contract was signed between the Bulgartransgaz and a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Arkad Engineering.
The contract envisages laying a 474-km pipeline from Bulgaria’s southern border with Turkey to its western border with Serbia.
The pipeline is expected to deliver Russian natural gas to Serbia, Hungary and Austria as an offshoot of TurkStream gas pipeline.
Thus, gas will be delivered from Russia to Turkey and Europe bypassing Ukraine’s territory.
As The Journalist reported, Denmark may suspend Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline construction.
