On March 10, the Cabinet of Ministers at the meeting has appointed Yuriy Polyukhovych as acting minister of education and science of Ukraine. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science.
“It is very important that the principle of continuity of power work. It is an honor for me to fulfill the minister’s duties. I will do my best to ensure that the ministry works smoothly and properly performs its functions,” Polyukhovych said.
Yuriy Polyukhovych was born on November 1, 1980 in the city of Kostopil, Rivne Oblast.
He received a master’s degree in history from the National University Of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in 2003.
During 2009-2012, he studied at the postgraduate school of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv; candidate of historical sciences. He is the author of more than 40 scientific publications.
From 2000, he represents Ukraine in the European Mayan Culture Researchers Association WAYEB.
During 2014-2016, he was a researcher (postdoctoral studies) at the University of California, Chico (USA). He also worked at the National Institute of Anthropology and History (Mexico).
He has experience working in private companies, in which, in particular, he was involved in the development of innovations.
From 2014 to 2016, he was an adviser to the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine on a voluntary basis. Since 2017, heads the public organization Ukrainian Research Foundation.
He fluent in English, Spanish and classical Mayan hieroglyphic writing.
On September 11, 2019, she was appointed to the post of first deputy of the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Anna Novosad. She combines work at the Ministry of Education and Science with teaching at the Taras Shevchenko National University a master’s course in the History of Pre-Columbian America Civilizations.
