On the eve of November 9, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine proposed to impose sanctions against Nicaragua, since this state has appointed its honorary ambassador to the Russian-occupied Crimea, GORDON reports.

As Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov said at a government meeting, the project envisages the submission of proposals on the application of tough sectoral sanctions against the Republic of Nicaragua in response to the openly illegal actions of its government against the national security interests of the Ukrainian state.

According to Reznikov, Nicaragua “illegally and not in agreement with Ukraine appointed an honorary consul in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.”

As the publication specifies, the issue of sanctions should be considered by the National Defense and Security Council of Ukraine.

“The corresponding decision has a clear signal of the official message of the Ukrainian people to individual governments of the state, in particular, Nicaragua. The implementation of this decision and its further consideration by the National Security and Defense Council, the introduction of such a decision by the President of Ukraine into action and approval by the Parliament of Ukraine, respectively, will ensure the application of comprehensive sanctions against a separate foreign state, whose actions directly contradict the national interests and security of Ukrainian citizens and indulge the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine,” the Vice Prime Minister stressed.
