The Government of Canada will allocate about USD 100 million to expand domestic vaccine production capacity. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said this during a press conference in Ottawa, Ukrinform reports.

According to Trudeau, the funds allocated will increase the institution’s capacity to produce vaccines and strengthen the Council’s partnership with vaccine developers. He noted that he expects the launch of new capacities in the middle of next year.

“As soon as the effectiveness of the vaccine will be confirmed, we will need the ability to produce and distribute it domestically,” Trudeau said.

His office added that the newly built premises will allow the National Research Council of Canada to increase vaccine production to over two million doses per month.
