Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland announced Sunday Canada was temporarily shutting its embassy in Venezuela. This is reported on the website of the Government of Canada.
“Unfortunately, until the end of June, diplomats in Venezuela “will no longer be in a position to obtain diplomatic accreditation under the Maduro regime, and their visas will expire. We are left with no choice but to temporarily suspend operations at the Embassy,” Freeland said.
In turn, Freeland noted that Venezuelans will be able to contact the Canadian Embassy in Colombia.
