Chemical leak took place at Titanium-Magnesium plant in Zaporizhya

This morning, July 28, at the titanium-magnesium plant in Zaporizhia (ZTMK) occurred a titanium tetrachloride leak.

To the regional press service of the State Emergency Service, rescuers found that leakage of titanium tetrachloride occurred due to the damage of the transfer tank.

For the deposition of vapor, rescuers created a water curtain using spray nozzles and, at the same time, prepared the foam supply equipment. Plant employees shut off the valve and installed the bandage to eliminate the leakage from the tank. The chemical was also transferred to another tank.

At 11.40 am the accident was completely eliminated. Rescuers claim that the chemical fumes have not go beyond the workshop. There is no danger to the life and health of the citizens. No one was hurt as a result of the incident.
