All roads of Ukraine must be equipped with bicycle paths after 10 years, since September 1, 2018 updated state building standards (SBS) have come into effect, which provide for obligatory design of bicycle paths and lanes for new construction, reconstruction and overhaul of Ukrainian roads.
This was announced by Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine Lev Partskhaladze on his Facebook page.
«Since September, the design of bicycle paths and lanes on the roads is a must. Therefore, if on average repair of tpavement should be carried out every 5 to a maximum of 10 years, then in 10 years all Ukrainian roads will be bicycle paths. This will be an excellent opportunity to popularize this type of transport in Ukraine, reduce number of traffic jams and create safe and comfortable conditions for cyclists», said Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing.
Partskhaladze noted that already in Ukraine the first examples of qualitative changes are beginning to be implemented in accordance with the new SBS.
As The Journalist reported, in Ukraine it is forbidden to design temporary parking on sidewalks.
