Court released former translator of Groisman, who pleaded guilty to treason

Holosiivskyi District Court of Kyiv approved an agreement on the recognition of guilt between the former translator of Ukrainian PM Groisman, Stanislav Yezhov, and the prosecutor Oleksandr Bannyk. The agreement has been concluded on the eve of the court hearing. According to Savchenko’s law, Yezhov was released, because the court considered that he had already served his sentence, the Judicial reporter informs.

According to the agreement, Yezhov pleaded guilty under Article 28 part 2, Article 111 part 1 (a crime committed by a group of persons, high treason) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He sincerely repented, critically assesses his criminal behavior. However, he undertook not to change his testimony.

The parties agreed on a sentence of 3 years 28 days in prison without confiscation of property. He stayed in the pre-trial detention center from December 20, 2017 to July 3, 2019. In connection with the so-called “Savchenko’s law”, the court concluded the accused had completely served his sentence.

By the verdict of the court, the arrest of Yezhov’s property is canceled, he was returned the passport of a citizen of Ukraine and a passport for traveling abroad.

The accused is charged about UAH 20,000 of examination costs.

As The Journalist reported, Groisman government resigned.
