The Czech Republic is suspected of misappropriating 110,000 face masks and respirators, sent by China to help Italy in the fight against COVID-19. It was reported by La Repubblica.

Czech authorities are now investigating the case, which was originally reported by a member of the Czech pirate party Lev Cervinka. According to him, on Tuesday, Czech authorities said they had made great strides in dealing with fraudsters who speculate on the sale of masks and other medical materials. Then the Czech police allegedly arrested a large shipment of illegal cargo.

Then were published photos and videos showing boxes in police trucks with the flags of Italy and China and inscriptions in Italian, English and Chinese: “Go ahead, Italy! We are with you.”

Three days later, after being publicized in the media, the Czech authorities launched an investigation and decided to immediately send to Italy the same number of masks that were seized (110,000 pcs.).

The company responsible for transporting Chinese aid to Italy decided (by agreement with Beijing and Rome) to ensure the arrival of a second shipment of Chinese aid to Italy.
