Ombudsman of Ukraine Lyudmila Denysova during a meeting in Moscow with the her Russian counterpart Tatiana Moskalkova on June 11 offered her to discuss the issue of the simultaneous release of citizens of both countries detained and convicted in Russia and Ukraine on the grounds, considered political by one of the parties. Interfax-Ukraine reports about it.

“I think that we could join efforts – you in Russia, and me in Ukraine taking into consideration the good will of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with regard to liberation of everybody. We are not talking about exchanges. We say that the country has changed the rhetoric, our president speaks about the release, I would like to discuss these conditions with you”, Denysova said.

Moskalkova agreed to a dialogue.

“It is very important for us that today both the rhetoric and the general approaches to the human rights issue have changed,” said the ombudsman for the Russian Federation.

Later, the Verkhovna Rada Ombudsman wrote on her Facebook page that they had agreed to set up a working group relating the release of citizens of both countries, as well as to sign a memorandum on cooperation for further actions.

Earlier The Journalist reported that Ukrainian ombudsman Denysova would meet with a Russian colleague in Greece.
