Ukraine’s electricity distribution system operator, at the request of the Ukrainian state-owned enterprise Ukrinterenergo (“last hope” supplier), has partially disconnected the Voda Donbasa water supply utility company, which supplies Donetsk oblast with water.

This was reported by the press service of DTEK PEM-Energovuhillia.

“The power supply was limited due to the fact that a 90-day contract between Voda Donbasa and Ukrinterenergo had expired, and the contract with a new supplier was not concluded. According to Law of Ukraine ‘On the Electric Energy Market and the Electricity Retail Market Rules’, the distribution system operator is obliged to fulfill the demand of Ukrinterenergo, the ‘last hope’ supplier, and suspend power supplies to consumers who have failed to conclude an electricity supply contract,” the message said .

It is reported that in order to resume the supply of electricity and connect to the electricity grid, Voda Donbasa must conclude an agreement with a new electricity supplier, as well as settle the issue of debt settlement.

As The Journalist reported, coal mining was stopped in Ukraine because Donbas state mines are de-energized.
