EP Committee approves updated gas directive against Nord Stream

Council of the European Union has approved an updated gas directive regulating the supply of gas to Europe by sea gas pipelines and may prevent to implement Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project, the press service of the Council of the EU reports.

This document will enter into force 20 days later after the publication Official Journal of the EU and will become mandatory for implementation in the EU.

The decision was made almost unanimously. Bulgaria became the only country that abstained from the decision.

As The Journalist reported, the European Parliament stated that Nord Stream 2 could threaten the internal market of the EU.
