Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands have forged an alliance aimed at accelerating the production of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccine in Europe, DW reports, citing the Ministry of Health of the Netherlands.
Four largest economies in Europe joint in order to “achieve the fastest and best possible outcome in negotiations with key players in the pharmaceutical industry.”
“The Inclusive Vaccine Alliance should ensure that vaccines can be produced in Europe. Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands are convinced that a successful result requires a common strategy and investment,” the statement reads.
According to the World Health Organization, more than 130 coronavirus vaccines are being developed worldwide currently.
