The European Commission reported that they plan to assist Ukraine in developing renewable energy. This was announced by the new European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection reports.
“After negotiations on gas transit, Ukraine can focus on the energy of the future, in particular on the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The EU will provide its support,” Simson said.
She noted that in the negotiations on gas transit Ukraine took a constructive position and thanked Ukrainian officials for this.
Among the proposals for the development of green energy in Ukraine is the introduction of a new tax on carbon dioxide emissions.
