European Council proposes appointing Spanish Foreign Minister instead of Mogherini

The European Council proposes the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Spain, the former head of the European Parliament, Josep Borrell Fontelles, to be appointed as the next EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy.

We note that Fontelles will replace Federica Mogherini at this post.

The EC President Donald Tusk said about it in his Twitter.

“The European Council nominates Josep Borrell Fontelles as a candidate for the high representative of the European Union on foreign and security policy issues”, the report says.
