The honorary patriarch of Kyiv and all Ukraine-Rus Filaret regrets that he offered the candidature of Epiphanius to the post of head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine at the Unification Council.
“If I knew what was going on, I would not have put forward his candidacy (Epiphanius – ed.). I trusted him that he would take the straight road and not go by crooked roads – I didn’t expect this,” the honorary patriarch said.
According to Filaret, if he had not fought for Epiphany at the Unity Council, he would not have become head of the OCU, UNIAN reports.
Now, says Filaret, the head of the OCU avoids communication with him.
“Epiphanius avoids communication with me. I gave him recommendations in the beginning what to do – he did the opposite. Now he does not communicate with me except for several times and does not call. Says that he respects the patriarch so much, he is his “father”. These are words, and the deeds are opposite,” the patriarch added.
In addition, Filaret argues that Metropolitan Epiphanius is not independent in making decisions.
According to him, Metropolitan Epiphanius does not make his own decisions in the management of the control center, and he said this in an interview with Filaret.
As reported by the Journalist, Patriarch Filaret called on Zelensky to use power to do good and overcome evil.
