Five accused of the murder of Kateryna Gandziuk admitted their guilt

During the court hearing of the Pokrovsky District Court (Dnepropetrovsk Oblast), all five accused of attempted assassination of Kherson’s mayor’s aide and community activist Kateryna Gandziuk pleaded guilty and made a plea deal with the prosecutor. This is reported by Radio Svoboda.

According to the prosecution, Serhii Torbyn, suspected of organizing an attack on Kateryna Gandziuk, on order of the persons whose names are not released, induced other defendants (Mykyta Grabchuk, Volodymyr Vasyanovych, Vyacheslav Vishnevsky and Viktor Horbunov) to participate in the attempt.

In turn, all five defendants pleaded guilty and confirmed their agreement to conclude a deal with the investigation. Simultaneously, their advocates noted the agreements compliance with applicable law.

“The prosecution asks to sentence the accused to the following terms of imprisonment: Torbyn – up to 6 years and 6 months, Grabchuk – up to 6 years, Vishnevsky and Vasyanovych – up to 4 years, Gorbunov – up to 3 years”, the statement says.

It is noted that the court retired to the jury room for sentencing. The next meeting is scheduled for June 6.
