Five countries issue statement in support of Ukraine after the UN Security Council meeting

During the meeting of the UN Security Council in New York were discussed the implementation of the Minsk agreements and the militants’ offensive in Donbas. The meeting was convened at the initiative of Russia, which tried to accuse Ukraine of the ongoing war. As a result, most countries recognized the Russian Federation responsibility for escalation in eastern Ukraine.

The U.S. representative recalled that the aggressor country occupied the Ukrainian Crimea and provoked a conflict in the east. The diplomat emphasized that Russia continues to finance militants and called the aggravation in Donbas another violation of the Minsk agreements by the Russian Federation.

Germany representative emphasized that Russia continues to violate the Minsk agreements in response to accusations by the Russian side of Ukraine of violating the Minsk agreements.

The UK representative accused Russia of trying to mislead the world community regarding the situation in Donbas. A diplomat from Estonia criticized the aggravation in Luhansk Oblast.

France called on the Russian Federation to use its influence on the militants, without ever mentioning the Russia’s direct responsibility for the war in Donbas.

The Ukrainian delegation was led by Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsia. He thanked the members of the Security Council for supporting Ukraine. He also stressed that once again the Russian Federation is trying to present the victim of her aggression as its initiator.

After the UN Security Council meeting, representatives of Estonia, Belgium, France, Germany and Poland made a joint statement in support of Ukraine due to the aggravation of the situation in Donbas.
