Foreign Ministry of Ukraine is ready to cooperate with new Secretary General of Council of Europe

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted that it is closely monitoring the activities of the new Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, who is to take up her duties in the autumn of 2019, and is ready to cooperate with the new Secretary General in creating conditions for the Council of Europe to get a chance for restoring its credibility. It is reported by the press service of the Foreign Ministry.

“We expect the Secretary’s – General concrete steps to ensure that Russia’s meeting the CE requirements with regard to end of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the release of illegally captured Ukrainian sailors, Ukrainian political prisoners illegally detained in occupied Crimea and on the RF territory, persecution of Crimean Tatars and lifting of the ban on the activities of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatar people in the temporarily occupied peninsula”, the Ministry emphasized.

The Foreign Ministry also proposed Marija Pejčinović Burić to develop a new strategy for efficient management of the CE human, financial and administrative resources, which will make it possible to get rid of profligacy and ensure the effective functioning of its institutional mechanisms.
