Ambassador of Georgia to Ukraine Teimuraz Sharashenidze has stated that Tbilisi views the possible appointment of the former President of Georgia, ex-head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Mikheil Saakashvili to the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for reforms as an unfriendly and unacceptable act made by its strategic partner, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“Mikheil Saakashvili was found guilty by the Georgian state, Georgian justice and put on the international wanted list. At one time, there was an appeal to the Ukrainian side about the detention and transfer of Saakashvili to Georgia, and Tbilisi has transferred all the necessary materials related to criminal cases. This person has repeatedly called for the overthrow of the legitimately elected Georgian government. Against this backdrop, the possible appointment of Mr. Saakashvili will most likely be viewed by Tbilisi as an unfriendly and unacceptable step made by our strategic partner,” the Georgian diplomat noted.

To Sharashenidze, the Ukrainian side is well informed about Georgia’s attitude to this issue.

“We value our friendship, and I really hope that, making ершы decision, the strategic partner will take into account the attitude of the Georgian side to Saakashvili and the history of his crimes in the past, which is confirmed by the court decisions that have entered into force,” the ambassador emphasized.

At the same time, the diplomat drew attention to more than one example of mutual support and close cooperation between Georgia and Ukraine since two countries have gained independence. Today, the dynamics of cooperation between countries is really high, both bilateral and international way.
