The German Embassy in Ukraine has criticized the new draft law on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the decentralization of power.

“Amendments to the Constitution on decentralization of power should strengthen the rights of communities! The new project does not meet this requirement,” German diplomats said.

The message also note that the “quality and consensus are more important than the speed of adoption of amendments.”

In addition, the Canadian Embassy in Ukraine commented on the final draft law on amendments to the Constitution regarding decentralization of power.

“Canada shares the concerns of many local government leaders, civil society representatives and experts regarding the Bill No.2598, which limits democratic processes. We call for inclusive public consultation on changes and alignment with the principles of the European Charter of Local Government,” Canadian diplomats emphasized.

On January 15, the Verkhovna Rada plans to send amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding decentralization of power to the Constitutional Court for consideration.

As The Journalist reported, Constitutional Court in Ukraine recognizes bill on reducing number of MPs in line with Constitutional Law.
