Greece imposed a curfew in connection with a sharp increase in the incidence of coronavirus. This was reported by Reuters on Monday, March 23.

On March 23 the freedom of travel within the country will be limited. Only those who go to work or return from work, make purchases in a store or buy medicine or visit a doctor will be allowed to leave home.

“Perhaps this is the last step that needs to be taken quickly … We must not get to the point where we will have to choose who lives and who dies,” Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said.

Greece confirmed 94 new cases of the disease, which was biggest single-day jump in confirmed cases of the coronavirus. The total number of cases increased to 624.

WHO: quarantine not enough to defeat COVID-19.
