Transition to green energy in difficult time is one of the ways to restore countries, taking into account economic, social and environmental priorities. The participants of the 11th session of the IRENA Assembly drew attention to this once again. Ukraine is also following this course, according to The Journalist with reference to the press center of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency.

Thus, green energy attracted more than EUR 1.24 billion of investments in Ukraine in 2020, even in difficult times of the pandemic.

In particular, last year EUR 46 million was invested in energy efficiency projects through the warm credit program (EUR 35 million loans) and energy services (122 ESCO contracts worth EUR 11 million).

EUR 1.2 billion invested in 1.6 GW of new capacities generating electricity from renewable sources, namely 1,169 MW are solar power plants; 226 MW SPP in private households; 144 MW wind power plants; 22 MW biomass power plants; 10 MW biogas power plants; 3 MW small hydropower facilities.

It is important that Ukrainian households pay more and more attention to renewable energy sources. During the year, about 8,000 families switched to solar panels. Thus, at the beginning of 2021 there are already almost 30,000 such families bringing the total capacity to 780 MW.

In general, green projects contribute to solving energy supply issues for communities and stimulate economic processes, creating jobs, activating businesses, and replenishing budgets of different levels.

In general, the total capacity of the renewable electricity industry increased by 22% and reached 8.5 GW.
