On March 30, the 13th All-Ukrainian solemn ceremony “Heroes of the Sport Year-2018”, organized by National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, was held at the main sports arena of Ukraine NSC “Olympic”.

The focus of this ceremony is the unifying force of sports, because at all times it was sports that united people regardless of their age, nationality, social status or religious beliefs.
The laureates of the “Heroes of the Sporting Year 2018” were awarded in ten nominations. The winners are:
The best athlete of the year
Oleksandr Abramenko – champion of the XXІІІІ Winter Olympic Games in freestyle (ski acrobatics)
Best athlete of the year
Olena Kostevych – the world champion in bullet shooting
Outstanding achievement of the year
Elina Svitolina – the fourth racket of the world, the winner of the final WTA tournament
Daria BYLODID – world judo champion
The best coach of the year
Enver Ablaev – head coach of the Ukrainian freestyle team (for the preparation of the Olympic champion Oleksandr Abramenko)
Sensation of the year
Alla CHERKASOVA – world champion in wrestling (68kg)
The best team of the year (national team)
Duo of shooters Olena Kostevych – Oleh Omelchuk – bronze medalists of the World and European Championships, world record holders (mixed, pistol, 10m)
Olympic hope of Ukraine
Kateryna CHORNIY – two-time champion of the III Youth Olympic Games in fencing with epee (individual championship, mixed teams)
