Hungarian State Assembly did not addressed Russia to join forces to “protect the rights of linguistic minorities” in Ukraine. This was reported by the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Zelenko.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Budapest turned to the Hungarian side to verify this information. Zelenko stated that, given the fact that the Hungarian State Assembly did not made such statements neither verbally nor in writing, so they could not transmit such information during the Hungarian-Russian negotiations at the parliament level.

The Foreign Ministry emphasizes that Ukraine and Hungary are partner countries that are able to independently find a way out of the situation.

“We believe that Hungary, being the EU and NATO member country, supports Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and will not enter into alliances with the aggressor against Ukraine and will also respond to this information,” the message says.

As The Journalist reported, Hungary vetoed joint declaration of NATO ambassadors on Ukraine.
