The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference opens at the Vienna International Center on Monday. The session will continue until September 25, Ukrinform reports.
The conference will be attended by representatives of the 171 IAEA member states, including at the ministerial level. The Agency’s assistance to states in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic is expected to be in main focus of discussions.
In addition, will be raised issues related to nuclear and radiation safety and ways to strengthen the Agency’s activities related to nuclear science and technology, as well as the application of IAEA safeguards in the Middle East and the DPRK. The delegates will also consider the report on technical cooperation, the annual report and financial statements of the IAEA for 2019, as well as the update of the Agency’s budget for 2021.
