EU blames Google, Facebook and Twitter for failing promises to fight fake news

In the European Union stated that the Google search service, social networks Facebook and Twitter do not fulfill their promises to fight fake news. This was reported in the European Commission statement.
In particular, it is noted that Facebook, contrary to the agreements, did not provide the results of the investigation regarding advertising in January, which is misleading. Google did not clarify what was done to eliminate misinformation. Twitter has not sent results to improve the control over the placement of advertising.
EU believes that, on the eve of the elections to the European Parliament, the companies have not shown any progress. The European Commission called for “Facebook, Google and Twitter to do more in all Member States to help ensure the integrity of European Parliament elections in May 2019.”
