Infrastructure Ministry invites U.S. companies to join concession projects in Ukraine

The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine has invited U.S. companies to join concession projects in the country, which, through public-private partnerships, will allow to implement progressive and effective methods of managing large infrastructure facilities.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Minister Vladyslav Krykliy held a meeting with U.S. Charge d’Affaires in Ukraine Kristina Kvien and Counselor to the Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation Caleb McCarry. The parties discussed the state of future Ukrainian-American cooperation in infrastructure sphere.

“The use of concession mechanism will allow the state to attract significant private investment to modernize and improve the efficiency of use of infrastructure objects, such as sea and river ports, roads, airports, and other state-owned objects, which will allow Ukraine to realize her transit potential and provide with a new quality of transport services. We invite U.S. companies to join concession projects in Ukraine,” Krykrliy noted.

Kristina Kvien positively noted Ukraine – U.S. cooperation and expressed hope for the further development of mutually beneficial relations between two countries.

According to McCarry, the International Development Finance Corporation is considering participating in infrastructure projects in Ukraine.

The first concession competitions in the Olbia and the Kherson ports have been recently completed, while the development of concession projects in the seaports of Odesa, Chornomorsk, Mariupol, Berdiansk is underway. The projects on concession roads of Lviv – Stryi and Lviv – Ternopil, as well as regional airports and railway stations are being worked out.

As The Journalist reported, Ukrzaliznytsia, Deutsche Bahn will cooperate to launch new routes.
