Iran agreed to pay compensation to families of UIA plane crash victims

Iranian authorities will pay compensation to the families of victims of the UIA passenger plane crash, which was shot down on January 8 near Tehran. This was stated by Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh, Al Jazeera reports.

She noted that the agreements were reached as a result of negotiations between Iran and the countries whose citizens died in the crash.

The representative of the Swedish government said that a memorandum of understanding had been signed. Now it is planned to begin negotiations with Iran regarding the details of the payment of compensation to the immediate families of the victims.

Recall, on January 8, an airplane of Ukraine’s International Airlines crashed after departure from Tehran Airport. On board were 176 people, all of them died.
