Iran’s minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mohammad Eslami has said Iran will send the black boxes from a downed in January 2020 Ukrainian airliner to Ukraine. It was reported by The New York Times.

According to Eslami Ukraine initially lacked the technical capability to read the boxes but now says it has that ability.

He noted that the transfer is technical, not political issue.

“The necessary coordination is in this way that the reading of the black box be done in the country of Ukraine in the presence of representatives of ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). And if the conditions aren’t provided then at that time the reading will take place together in France,” Eslami explained.

He also noted that the decoding of black boxes, in any case, involves the presence of representatives of Iran and Ukraine.

Foreign Ministry: Investigation into crash of Ukrainian passenger plane in Tehran can be completed without black boxes.
