Japan plans to partially ease travel restrictions for foreigners in October, but this does not apply to tourists, Kyodo reports.

The Japanese government has already eased entry/exit restrictions for businessmen to some Asian countries, including Vietnam and Thailand, and will allow foreign students on government scholarships to enter the country in August. Now, the country’s government plans to allow foreign citizens to enter for long-term stays from October 1, for a period of three months or more.

About a thousand foreign visitors will be allowed into Japan every day. At the same time, tourists will still be denied access to the country.

Japan has imposed entry ban for citizens of 159 countries and regions.
