JFO: servicemen of Armed Forces of Ukraine disarmed above 40 mines with foreign marking under Marjinka

The command of the joint forces operation reports the soldiers of the King Danylo separate mechanized brigade found and neutralized more than 40 mines near the settlement of Marjinka while setting up their advanced positions.

“It was established that anti-personnel barter had not been manufactured in Ukraine. In particular, they are labeled by the other country”, the report says.

At the JFO headquarters they note that the use of anti-personnel mines as a means of warfare is prohibited by the Ottawa Convention. Ukraine had the fifth largest arsenal of anti-personnel mines in the world.

In 2005, the Ukrainian parliament ratified the Ottawa Convention, according to which the last APM-type mine was liquidated in 2003 in the Donetsk region.
