Measles outbreak in Madagascar killed more than 300

Over 50,000 people have been ill with measles in Madagascar, since October 2018: 300 of them died. Among the victims of the disease are mostly children, CNN reported.

The disease struck all regions and all the major cities of the island state near the coast of East Africa. Doctors say the disease is spreading due to insufficient vaccination of the population – less than 50% at the beginning of the epidemic. As of today, the government, with the help of UNICEF and the World Health Organization, is carrying out mass vaccination of the population.
