Russia continues to violate human rights in the occupied Crimea. About 100 Ukrainian citizens are being illegally detained on the territory of the peninsula on politically motivated charges. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kislitsa during a speech at the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly.

He noted that in November the number of Crimean Tatars sentenced to imprisonment increased.

“They received shocking sentences – from 12 to 17 years – for the peaceful observance of Islamic rituals,” the report said.
