Pavlo Klimkin believes that Ukraine will not be able to join the European Union in 10 years. He wrote about this on the second anniversary of the visa-free regime with the EU on his Facebook page:

“Waiting in line for morning coffee, I accidentally was involved in the discussion reffering the likely timing of Ukraine’s accession to the EU. It is a bit frustrating to act as a mythbuster and telling people the truth after they had been told fairy tales.”

Klimkin noted that Ukraine would definitely become the EU member, but not right now.

“Someone heard that we will join the EU in 2025. This is nonsense, because there should have been negotiations on accession for a long time. Someone heard that 10-years time frame was more realistic, but it is still nonsense. After all, for this, we should have started negotiations on accession literally the next day,” the report says.

Thus, Klimkin noted that Ukraine should definitely become “way better than all previous EU candidates.”

As The Journalist reported, the Verkhovna Rada did not support the resignation of Pavlo Klimkin.
